A Gould Wedding

Saturday 27th August 2022

Myself and Katie who was my second photographer for Mike and Lucys wedding, took a trip down to depths of South Devon. What a day it turned out to be too. The sun shone from dusk till dawn with the unbareable heat. However we were lucky enough to be up above Thurlestone village, in a field with the most amazing views and a very nice breeze.

Our initial meeting..

We first met in 2019 when Mike contacted me, asking if would come for a walk with the 2 of them. As he wanted to get down on one knee and propose. Lucy was completely oblivious to this, even to this day she couldn't believe that we managed to keep it a secret.

As you can see this is the start of their wedding planning. The beloved Thurlestone where the views steals anyones hearts.

Wedding Morning

Me and Katie arrived early to Thurlestone so as it was busy morning and we needed to separate off to cover both the Bride and Groom with the family parties.

Both Parties were just incredible to be with. So accommodating and providing us with copious amounts of tea and coffee.

I had the absolute pleasure in working alongside the lovely Emily who made Lucy and the bridemaids hair look insane. Not forgetting Rachael with her talents brush skills giving Lucy and the girls flawless looking makeup.

Pre Breakfast, Breakfast

Mike and His groomsmen once donned their suits and ties, drove to the local pub which is situated opposite Thurlestone church for a bacon sarni and pint. With the hope of relieving any built up nerves. Katie was lucky enough to join in on this.

Wedding Field

From Lucys family cottage in Buckland we could see the flags to the wedding venue field.

which gave me the first little insight for what was in store later on.

Flower Power

During the morning Emma popped by to update the Lucy and her parents on the flowers she has arranged up at the church.

All about the colour

All in the Detail

Colourful delivery

Emma, also dropped off the bridal party flowers posies and buttonholes.

What a Triumph

This little sports car has great sentimental value to Lucy parents, they purchased this car after they were married to drive them on their honeymoon. Lucy's dad has restored it since so it was drivable for her wedding day.

It also has further significance later in the day for Mike and Lucy.

"Heading to the Chapel and were gonna get married"

After the most fun relaxing morning with the Bride and Groom. It's time to head to the church and get Lucy and Mike married.

What a beautiful church it is too.

Wedding Reception

Whilst Mike, Lucy and myself drove down to Thurlestone sands, the rest of the wedding party headed to the reception venue, which is set in a field above Thurlestone looking over to Burgh Island.

Food Glorious Food..

The welcome drinks, bar, wedding breakfast and evening reception food was delivered by LAP food and bar. As always they pulled out all the stops and delivered some of the tastiest food I've had at weddings.

mmm.... Cake....

This Beautiful wedding cake decorated in the same flowers as the bouquets

looks incredible in the marquee.

The only issue to be had was the weather. The cake wasn't left out for long due to the exposed butter icing.

Top Triumphs

During the Father of the Brides speech, he surprised the happy couple to a set of keys each. These keys are to Lucys parents Triumph that has so many memories attached to it. So that they can continue this beautiful tradition.

What a beautiful wedding present.

Afternoon Games

Mike and Lucy provided some simple games for the guests to play after the wedding breakfast.

these were welcomed with open arms by the guests.

It was obvious to see who was competitive and who wasn't

Taking 5...

I always recommend to my couples to take a few minutes of the evening before your first dance to gather your thoughts together, have some time alone and enjoy a potentially beautiful sunset.

Lucy and Mikes wedding was no exception. We took a stroll across the field

  1. To admire the venue from afar
  2. So I could grab some lovely couple shots as the sun was setting.
  3. To give them 5 minutes alone to see all their hard work from a distance together.

New Wheels

PARTY TIME

What a day it's been, the band has set up and everyone is ready to party the night away.

but before anyone hits the dance floor Mike and Lucy start off with a beautiful first dance. then allowing the rest of the wedding party to join in and have a boogy.

That's a Wrap

I can't thank Mike, Lucy, Family and Friends for making myself and Katie feel so welcome all day long.

It was an incredible wedding and I'm so grateful for having been their photographer.

I wish Mike and Lucy the very best, I cannot wait to see how their marriage grows.

Love Hannah and Katie
